Madam Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is Vietjet’s President & CEO. Madam Nguyen earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree (“Ph.D.”) in Economic Cybernetics; a bachelor’s degree in Credit-Finance; and a Bachelor’s degree in Labour Economic Management. She was named as the only South East Asia’s Self-Made Women Billionaire in 2017 by Forbes.
Madame Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - the first self-made woman billionaire in ASEAN, is the founder and CEO of Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (Vietjet Air). Since its IPO in February 2017, the airline’s market capitalization currently reaches to more than 3 billion USD. Thanks to this, Nguyen was listed in Forbes' 100 most powerful businesswomen in the year 2017. Her current assets is USD3.5 billion as well as the two listed companies on HOSE, Vietjet Air and HDBank. In 2018, Vietjet commences about 100 domestic and international routes.
Nguyen is also a major shareholder cum Standing Vice Chairwoman of HDBank, a private joint-stock commercial bank whose average growth rate remains over 30% during last 10 consecutive years. The bank’s capital is VND 9.8 trillion and its total assets reaches VND 192 trillion as of Q2/1018. In addition, Nguyen also serves as Chairwoman of Sovico Holdings, a multi-industry company homing more than 25,000 staff. Sovico Holdings owns and develops major real estates throughout the country, such as Furama Resort, Aryana, Ana Mandara, An Lam Ninh Van Bay (Nha Trang), Dragon City (South of Saigon) and Splendora (Hanoi).
Born in Hanoi in 1970, Nguyen obtained her Bachelor of Finance and Credit at Trade Institute of Moscow and her PhD. degree in Economic Cybernetics at the Mendeleev Institute.
