Professor of Economics, Peking University，Director of National Economic Research Institute (NERI), and President, China Development Institute which is one of 25 “High Level Think Tank of the State”. He received his Ph.D in Economics from CASS on 1988. His publications include over 100 academic papers published in Chinese and English academic journals and 12 books, on Macroeconomics and Economics of transition. He is also an advisor to various departments of Chinese Central government and provincial governments; he was appointed by the State Council as the academic member of Monetary Policy Committee of Bank of China (the Central Bank) during 2006-2010 and in 2015- again ( for third term). He has been guest professor of number of universities and graduate schools; and served as economic consultant to various international organizations and played leading roles in research projects commissioned by The World Bank, ADB, UNDP, OECD, etc. He was listed as one of “World’s Top 100 Public Intellectuals” jointly by Foreign Policy and Prospect, in 2005 and 2008 consecutively；and listed as one of “100 Global Thinkers” by Foreign Policy in 2010. He has served as a member of advisory boards, or as an advisor, of numerous multinational companies and financial institutions.
